Cuba: it wasn't really the sort of place I associated with tourism: I'd always imagined it the sort of place you'd have to sneak into or, at the very least, beg some
sort of special permission from an aging beaurocrat locked up in a hot and sticky office secreted away up a back street in Havana more concerned with drinking rum than stamping visas. I was thinking this on the plane on the way to cuba surrounded by happy tourists of for a fortnight in the sun,and just for a moment, something twigged in me, that this was not what I wanted at all.
